How to Make Sweet Feet Lotion Sticks + Sugar Scrub

I used to spring for pedicures, but now I treat my feet at home. These all-natural, homemade Sweet Feet lotion sticks and simple sugar scrub will leave you feeling pampered and polish-ready.

Side note: this recipe makes eight, so you’ll have some to gift for Mother’s Day. Add a colorful bow and package them together for all the mamas in your life. Or, put together a whole package of pampering treats in a basket, like this one.

The recipe is just like my homemade lotion bars, but in stick form, which makes it super easy to apply. Hint: these are great for chapped cheeks in the winter, but substitute lavender essential oil for the citrus and mint.

How to Make Sweet Feet Lotion Sticks

You just need a few simple ingredients: skin nourishing butter (mango, shea, or cocoa); solid coconut oil; beeswax pellets (I use white); and essential oils. All of these items will last well beyond this recipe and can be used for things like lip balms, lotion bars, and many other natural recipes.

melt
cool
oils

First, measure out your ingredients into a glass measuring cup, with the exception of the essential oils. Place the glass measuring cup into a small pot of water (about 2 inches of water) and boil on medium-high heat. Stir with a silicone scraper or wooden spoon until completely liquified. The beeswax pellets will be the last to melt.

Once melted, remove from heat, add essential oils, and stir. You can place your containers into a small plastic bowl, or you can rubber band them all together so they don’t tip over.

Next, pour into the stick containers. The measuring cup pour-spout makes this easy. As they cool, you’ll see them start to solidify. You can then move to the refrigerator for several hours. Wipe off any drips and place the lids and labels on the lotion sticks.

For labels, you can create your own or use colorful washi tape. I keep one stick in the bathroom, and the rest in the fridge until I need a new one.

Like a lip balm, these will melt. Tip: don’t leave these in your car. Again, these ingredients will last you a while and even this small batch of sticks will last a good amount of time. This is why I love to make some and gift some! They’ll keep for about 12-18 months unopened in the fridge.

Let’s Talk About Use

You can use the lotion sticks after your home pedicure using the sugar scrub recipe below or after showering. The application is similar to a deodorant stick: simply remove the cap and rub it into your skin. Your feet in this case, ha! Be careful, both the sugar scrub and the lotion sticks will make your feet slippery on the bathroom tile. Ask me how I know!

Ingredients

Scale

1/4 cup Beeswax pellets
1/4 cup Coconut oil
1/4 cup Shea, Mango or Cocoa butter
8 Travel deodorant containers, or a silicone mold (think sunshines and flowers!)
8 drops Lemon essential oil + 4 drops Peppermint (you can also use other combos, keep in mind citrus oils make skin sensitive to sunlight. I wouldn’t worry about this if you’re using on the bottoms of your feet.)

Instructions

Add all ingredients (except EO’S) to a wide mouth mason jar or glass measuring cup and place in a pot as a double boiler. Stir frequently until completely melted. Remove from heat, add EO’s and stir. Pour into containers/molds and cool. I keep mine in the fridge!

Use your favorite sugar scrub to exfoliate feet, then apply Sweet Feet Pedicure Lotion Stick to moisturize and keep your feet baby soft and ready for polish!
